Biography| Chairul Tanjung

Chairul (born in Jakarta, June 16, 1962) is a businessman from Indonesia. His name is widely known as a successful businessman with the company he leads, Para Group. Chairul has started doing business when he lectures of the Department of Dentistry, University of Indonesia. Had ups and downs, he eventually building a successful business. His conglomerate, the Group becomes a business enterprise oversees several other companies such as Trans TV and Bank Mega.Karier and life.


Chairul was born in Jakarta in the family is enough. His father A.G. Tanjung is a reporter age old order who published a newspaper with a circulation of small. Chairul are in a family with six other siblings. When Arriving in the New Order era, his father's business forced to close because the odds politically with the current rulers. These circumstances forced her parents sell the house and move to stay in a narrow room inn.
After finishing school in SMA Boedi Utomo in 1981, Chairul entered the Department of Dentistry, University of Indonesia (graduated 1987). When this college he began to enter the business world. And when the college, he was honored as Student of National Model 1984-1985.

In order to meet the needs of college, he started a business from the beginning of the bookselling mimeographed lectures, shirts, and other campus. He also opened a photocopy on campus. Chairul had also founded a medical supply store and laboratory in numbers Senen Raya, Central Jakarta, but bankrupt.

After college, Chairul been established PT Pariarti Shindutama along with three colleagues in 1987. The initial capital about Rp 150 million from Exim Bank, they produce children's shoes for export. Luck is on his side, because the company immediately receives an order of 160 thousand pairs of shoes from Italy. However, because of differences in vision about business expansion, Chairul choose dash and establish their own business. His ability to build a network and as an entrepreneur to make the business grow. Directing business to a conglomerate, Chairul reposition itself into three core businesses: financial, property, and multimedia. In the financial sector, he took over Bank Karman which is now called Bank Mega.

He named the company with Para Group. The conglomerate company has the core Holdindo as a father holding company, which is in charge of several sub-holding, namely the Global Investindo (financial business), The Core Investindo (media and investment) and the Core Propertindo (property).

Under Para group, Chairul has a number of companies in the financial sector, among others, General Insurance Mega, Mega Life Insurance, Para Multi Finance, Bank Mega Tbk, Mega Capital Indonesia, Bank Syariah Mega and Mega Finance. While in the field of property and investments, the company in charge of Para Bandung Propertindo, Para Propertindo Bali, Batam Indah Investindo, Mega Indah Propertindo. And in the field of broadcasting and multimedia, Para Group owns Trans TV, Trans7, Mahagagaya Prime, Trans Fashion, Lifestyle Trans and Trans Studio.

Specialized in the real estate business, Para Group has Bandung Supermall. Mal 3 hectares have spent 99 billion rupiah. Para Group launched Bandung Supermall as the Central Business District in 1999. While in the field of investment, in early 2010, Para Group through its subsidiary, Trans Corp, bought a majority stake in Carrefour, which is some 40 percent. Regarding the process of buying Carrefour, MoU (memorandum of understanding) the purchase of shares of Carrefour signed on March 12, 2010 in France.

The famous magazine Forbes released the list of world's richest people 2010. As an achievement, according to the magazine, Chairul including one of the world's richest man from Indonesia. Forbes stated that Chairul is at number 937 with total wealth of US $ 1 billion. In 2011, according to Forbes Chairul ranked the 11 richest people in Indonesia, with a total wealth of $ 2.1 billion.

On December 1, 2011, Chairul formalize the change Para Group into a CT Corp. CT Corp consists of three sub-holding companies: Mega Corp, Trans Corp, and CT Global Resources, which include financial services, media, retail, lifestyle, entertainment, and natural resources.
